Can your child count by
1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's to 100?
Practice counting backwards from 50.
We will be learning our way around a number grid.
We are telling time.
We are counting money.
We are learning about even and odd numbers.
Let your child spend money, let them count it out and see if they can tell you how much change they should get.
Don't forget to play EMGames!

Sentences should not have capital letters mixed in with lowercase letters.
All sentences should have ending marks, and make sense.
Handwriting should be legible.
When you read with your child stop the story and ask,
"What do you think will happen next? What makes you think so?"
We have been discussing the following words in class:
infer, predict, and guess.
We have also been practicing making connections.
Try and connect with the story.

Ask you kids about what we are doing with QR Codes and the iPads!
Science and Social Studies
*We will be asking and answering the following questions in class.*
What is a scientist?
Do you know all the seasons? How do the seasons change the weather, the environment, activities, and what people wear?
What senses do scientists use to investigate?
How do things grow and change?
What is a good citizen?
Who was Elanor Roosevelt, Ben Franklin, and George Washington Carver?
How about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln?
We will be delving into map reading, cardinal directions, map legends, and symbols. Can you child recognize the shape of Virginia and the United States?
We will also be talking about then and now....so much has changed, tell your child about the things that have always been in their life, but things that you had to live without....like microwave popcorn, computers, cell phones, cable TV, and even video games. How did you do it Mom and Dad??? How did the Pilgrims do it? We will be talking about how lucky we are today and what we should be thankful for.
